Rock and Riot Chelsey Furedi All computerized animation I chose this work because it is an animated pilot for a comic that I love with all my heart. I am also super attracted to the art style. There is a lot of movement and emphasis in this video because of the extravagant frames and expressions of the characters. There is also color present in this animation- there are a lot of warm colors and the video has an overall pleasant color palette. This animation is connected to the webcomic Rock and Riot that I thoroughly enjoy. The music is important to note because it is a story that is based in the 1950’s.
In A Heartbeat Beth David and Esteban Bravo All computerized animation I chose this animation because I personally think it is super cute. The story is portrayed beautifully when there are no words and there are only 4 minutes of it. There are a lot of textures in this animation- from the detailed hair to the trees. The proportion is a bit exaggerated, but that is just a part of the art style. As someone who supports the LGBT+ community, I really love that an animation about two gay boys got so popular so quickly (currently, the video has over 29 million views). The music is important because there are no words, so it needs to portray the emotion felt throughout the piece.
Yo Girl ‘Elemental FA’ (real name unknown) All computerized animation I chose this animation because it is a piece from an artist I really admire, and it is one of her few fully animated works. There are a lot of very unique perspectives and different lighting/shadows in this animation. They are used to show fear, as described in the song. This animation is really cool because it is an animation based from Heathers - one of my favorite musicals. The music is very important piece because it describes what is going on, the emotion, and also the animation was fully created around the song.
Potion Shop Temmie Chang All computerized animation I chose this animation because I thought that the drawing style was really cute and the colors used in the animation were really bright and pretty. I think the animator used color very well because of the different pleasing shades of pink. They also used a lot of movement with the main cat character. This animation sort of reminds me of my love for Dungeons and Dragons, so I really think this animation is adorable and creative. The music made it adventurous and the noises helped show the characters’ emotions.
Death Buy Lemonade Kyu-bum Lee All computerized animation I chose this animation because I think it was really cute and funny for it being such a short animation. The drawing style was also super nice. I think the animation showed a lot of emphasis- from the designs of the characters to the movements. There was also a lot of movement, due to the fact that the animation was really fluid. The music in the background made the content in the animation seem more comedic - from the sudden silence representing shock, to the nonchalant whistling of denying the man lemonade.
